North East Scotland
Constituencies:
North East Scotland has, traditionally, been dominated by SNP and the Conservatives. In a region suffering from the decline of the oil industry, Reform are hoping to make an impact.
Aberdeen Central
- Yi-Pei Chou Turvey – Liberal Democrats
- Jenny Laing – Labour Party
- Jack Middleton – Scottish National Party (SNP)
- Stewart Whyte – Conservative and Unionist Party
- James Wyllie – Reform UK
Reform may do well here, but nowhere near enough to overcome the SNP.
Aberdeen Deeside and North Kincardine
- Stephen Mark Flynn – Scottish National Party (SNP)
- Liam Kerr – Conservative and Unionist Party
- Iris Alexandra Leask – Independent
- Matthew Lee – Labour Party
- Duncan Massey – Reform UK
- Mel Sullivan – Liberal Democrats
Liam Kerr ran Audrey Nicoll pretty close in 2021, but the SNP are likely to benefit from the “celebrity” impact of Westminster leader Flynn and Reform splitting the Conservative vote.
Aberdeen Donside
- Stephen Bowie – Alliance to Liberate Scotland
- Jackie Dunbar – Scottish National Party (SNP)
- Claudia Leith – Reform UK
- Hannah Powell – Conservative and Unionist Party
- Lynn Thomson – Labour Party
- Michael John Turvey – Liberal Democrats
Dunbar should retain her seat for SNP.
Aberdeenshire East
- John Crawley – Reform UK
- David Ronald Evans – Liberal Democrats
- Janine Langler – Labour Party
- Douglas Lumsden – Conservative and Unionist Party
- Gillian Anne Martin – Scottish National Party (SNP)
Gillian Martin was one of three MSPs (the others being Ash Regan and Ruth Maguire) whose shared concerns about Gender Recognition Reform were leaked by Alyn Smith’s (SNP’s candidate in Stirling) then boyfriend, Jordon Henderson. Since then, however, Martin has toed the party line. She also looks set to benefit from a Con/Reform split.
Aberdeenshire West
- Kate Blake – Labour Party
- Alexander Burnett – Conservative and Unionist Party
- Jeff Goodhall -Liberal Democrats
- Jo Hart – Reform UK
- Fatima Joji – Scottish National Party (SNP)
Alexander Burnett has held the seat for the Tories since 2016. Even with Reform in the mix, we hope he can see off the SNP not least because the SNP candidate is Joji. See the article in Holyrood: SNP councillor censured after calling Wings Over Scotland ‘scum’.
Angus North and Mearns
- Dawn Black – Scottish National Party (SNP)
- Laurie Carnie – Reform UK
- Martyn John Knights – Liberal Democrats
- David Allen Neill – Independent
- Tracey Smith – Conservative and Unionist Party
- Simon Peter Watson – Labour Party
Polls indicate SNP hold over Tories in Mairi Gougeon’s old seat.
Angus South
- Heather Doran – Labour Party
- Isobel Knights – Liberal Democrats
- Angus Macmillan Douglas – Conservative and Unionist Party
- Lloyd Melville – Scottish National Party (SNP)
- Bill Reid – Reform UK
Another seat in which the MSP, in this case Graeme Dey, has decided to stand down. SNP candidate Lloyd Melville buys the “most marginalised” line about trans people.

Banffshire and Buchan Coast
- Karen Adam – Scottish National Party (SNP)
- James Adams – Conservative and Unionist Party
- N D R McLennan – Independent
- Brooke Ritchie – Labour Party
- Conrad Strachan Ritchie – Reform UK
- Leslie Tarr – Liberal Democrats
We would love to see Karen Adam, the deeply partisan convener of the Equalities and Human Rights Committee, unseated. Last time she scraped a win over the Tories but Reform has been hoovering up votes in the area, taking 14.6 per cent of the vote in this area in the 2024 general election, their best result in Scotland, and are hoping for a win.
Reform’s Conrad Ritchie is a former oil and gas executive and is running on a platform of further North Sea exploration and greater control over fishing waters. In a region which relies on fishing and oil and gas (and voted leave in 2016), they could do well.
The big risk is if they split the right of centre Unionist vote – if that happens we may have to put up with Adam for another 5 years!

Dundee City East
- Tanvir Ahmad – Liberal Democrats
- Peter Ashby – Workers Party of Britain
- Cheryl-Ann Cruickshank – Labour and Co-operative Party
- Jack Cruickshanks – Conservative and Unionist Party
- Stephen Gethins – Scottish National Party (SNP)
- Donald MacLeod – Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition
- Mark Simpson – Reform UK
MP Gethins should hold Robison’s old seat despite a surge from Reform.
Dundee City West
- Heather Anderson – Scottish National Party (SNP)
- Abi Brooks – Conservative and Unionist Party
- Daniel Coleman – Liberal Democrats
- Arthur Keith – Reform UK
- Michael Marra – Labour Party
- Jim McFarlane – Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition
We aren’t sorry to see the back of Joe FitzPatrick, but his seat looks likely to remain with the SNP.
Regional Lists:
List votes top up the constituency votes. Candidates from political parties are ordered, so if you vote for a party on the list, it’s useful to know who the top candidates are.
Conservatives: More in Common think 0 and YouGov two. Both have Burnett holding his constituency
- Liam Kerr
- Douglas Lumsden
- Alexander Burnett
Labour: 1-2 seats which should ensure the return of Marra.
- Michael Marra
- Heather Doran
- Lynn Thomson
Liberal Democrats: Again, there is a wide divergence in the polls with YouGov predicting 1 list seat and More in Common 3 seats. All the candidates are new.
- Yi-Pei Chou Turvey
- Michael John Turvey
- Tanvir Ahmad
SNP: 0 seats
- Stephen Mark Flynn
- Gillian Anne Martin
- Fatima Joji
Reform: 2 seats
- Duncan Massey
- Mark Simpson
- Claudia Leith
Greens: 0-1 We would be delighted if Maggie Chapman fails to make the cut this time!
- Maggie Chapman
- Esme Houston
- William Stanley Raymond Linegar
