Pride Glasgow

Otherwise known as: ‘Look, lesbians!

We are grateful to the organisers of Pride Glasgow for welcoming our For Women Scotland group celebrating lesbians as part of the official march.

One of our FWS’s co-founders, Magdalen Berns was unfortunately too ill to attend, but we were delighted to have her there in spirit with a fantastic portrait of her leading the way.

We had a fabulous day in the sunshine, singing songs and celebrating as we marched. Clearly something of a novelty we attracted a fair bit of attention with many people telling us they were delighted to see lesbians at Pride. Smiles, claps and waves greeted us as we made our way around Glasgow. There were shouts of ‘well done’, ‘fantastic to see you’, and even ‘look, lesbians’ – anyone would think we are an endangered species!

We made some new friends and it was lovely to have women join our group along the route to help hold our banner and wave Lesbian Visibility placards.

Lesbians Make Glasgow!

Thank you Glasgow for welcoming lesbian participation at Pride without the abuse we have seen elsewhere (such as Pride Edinburgh).
